Newly renovated stores will feature thousands of culturally relevant items from around the world and showcase value for local customers

A supermarket also pledges $1 million to fight hunger in New York

NEW YORK, June 10, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Stop & Shop today announced a $140 million capital investment in its New York stores to improve the shopping experience for local customers by a focus on adding thousands of new items from around the world to ensure each store’s assortment reflects the diversity of the neighborhood it serves. The store renovations will provide a new look to customers and will also highlight the value of promotional bins and the addition of the Flashfood program which offers fresh food at up to 50% off. The Stop & Shop’s Bay Plaza store in the Bronx is the first to be renovated and will celebrate its grand reopening with a ribbon cutting on June 10, with additional improvements in the boroughs over the next two years. In addition to investing in its stores, Stop & Shop has committed $1 million to address food insecurity in New York City this year through several local initiatives and community partnerships.

Stop & Shop began operations in New York more than two decades ago and currently operates 25 stores in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island – and door-to-door delivery in all five boroughs. Stop & Shop employs over 3,300 associates in the city.
